Union Sushi + Barbeque Bar is a great neighborhood restaurant located Chicago’s River North area. The menu offers both sushi and items from their robata grill. Union has great happy hour specials everyday from 5-6:30 PM including $1 oysters, $2 beef filet skewers, and $4 shrimp tempura rolls. Kevin and I are big oyster fans so we like to take advantage of their happy hour prices. The oysters at Union are topped with crispy shallots and are absolutely delicious!
One of my favorite items on their menu is the buffalo duck wing. The buffalo sauce is the perfect combo of sweet and spicy and the skin on the duck is nice and crispy! The wing is served with a yuzu-blue cheese dressing.

When ordering sushi, you have the option of order half size rolls (4 pieces) or full size rolls (8 pieces) which is great because it allows you to try several different rolls. The last time Kevin and I ate here we ordered four different half rolls from their speciality sushi roll options.
Old City Market: Spicy tuna, seared salmon, spicy ponzu, cilantro, green onion, fried okra, wrapped in collard green
Hokkaido: grilled scallop, avocado, masago-mayo, roasted pepper, jalapeno, garlic, wrapped in soy paper
Clifton #4: fried calamari, masago, green onion, grilled asparagus, cilantro, marble nori, garlic mayo
Chesapeake Bay: fried oyster, black rice, red tobiko, green onion, avocado, garlic aioli, wrapped in collard green
My favorite rolls were definitely the Clifton #4 and Chesapeake Bay!
We also tried a couple items from their robata grill.
We had the beef skewer as part of the happy hour special.
We also tried a lamb chop special that is not on the regular menu.
Union Sushi is a great casual place to go with a group of friends. Definitely take advantage of the $1 oyster deal!
