Friday, FINALLY!! I am exhausted after a week of having something to do every night after work and not getting home until late. I am so glad the weekend is finally here and a very low key one at that! We don’t have any real plans other than to seriously concentrate on car shopping. We’ll be out of town the next three weekends so this weekend requires a lot of focus on nailing something down. We are looking at midsize SUVs so any tips/suggestions are more than welcome! Whatever you are up to this weekend, I hope it’s a good one! Here is today’s Friday five:

I am so excited because this cookbook came in the mail this week! I was one of the lucky winners of this awesome giveaway over on Kit’s blog and can’t wait to start baking! All of the recipes in this cookbook are allergy-free which is perfect since Kevin has been eating gluten free. After thumbing through the pages, the recipes I am most excited about are Salted Caramel Apple Pie Muffins, Basil Lemonade Cookies, Mocha Italian Espresso Cupcakes, and Pumpkin Spice Donut Holes.

I started a new Bible study this week with my church called the New Testament Challenge. The challenge is to read through the entire New Testament in just 8 weeks! The book we are reading from is not in the same order as the books normally appear in the Bible and all chapters and verse numbers are removed so it reads more like a novel. On average it is about 12 pages of reading per day (5 days per week) so is very doable! The purpose of this book is to read the New Testament with a larger picture view instead of studying each verse inductively.

I met up with some of my old co-workers for dinner one night this week at a new pizza place in the West Loop. I’ve walked by Parlor Pizza Bar several times and had such high hopes, but sadly this place missed the mark for me. The restaurant has an awesome outdoor patio and rooftop lounge, but we all agreed the pizza was sub par. Fortunately, the company was great and I loved catching up with these friends since I hadn’t seen them in several months.

One of my friends, Erin (and her husband Scott), works for General Mills and she is always giving us new product recommendations. Lately my obsession has been Gluten Free Chex Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal. Seriously, it is so good! I’ve never been a huge fan of instant oatmeal packets, but these are the bomb dot com! Perfect for making at work now that the temperatures are cooler and I want something warm for breakfast.

Another treat I have been loving lately is Pumpkin Noosa! My friend, Kelly, introduced me to Noosa yogurt last year and I’ve been hooked ever since. The pumpkin flavor is seasonal and exclusive to Target and is so so good! Definitely worth picking up next time you’re there.
Lastly, I realized I never checked back in with the results from my 21 Day Fix. I definitely had a few days where I didn’t stick to the plan (ie. Homecoming/Birthday weekend), but overall I think it went pretty well. I ended up losing 5.4 pounds and 4 inches total (waist, hips, chest, arms, etc.). I don’t really feel that I look any different, but it definitely felt good to eat clean and I learned a lot about the amounts of certain food I should be eating which is what I wanted to get from the program anyways.
Hope you have a great weekend! Catch up with you again on Monday!
Linking up with Christina, April, Natasha, Darci, Lauren, Karli, and Amy.
