Several months ago, Kevin and I stopped in Farmhouse for Sunday brunch. Farmhouse is a Midwestern Craft Tavern that focuses on local food and drink. They are a farm to table restaurant making all of their burgers, condiments, and sodas from scratch. They source all of their food from Midwestern farmers and serve Midwestern beers.
The restaurant serves both lunch and dinner with brunch on the weekends. Like I said, we went for brunch on a Sunday. I started my meal with a hot mug of coffee which came with the cutest little milk jug. I’m pretty sure I squealed with delight when I saw this!
Kevin ordered his usual Bloody Mary which was garnished with pickle, olive, jerky, and cheese curds. It also came with a pony which is always a nice touch. This is still one of his favorite Bloody Marys to date!
For my meal I ordered The Farmer’s Breakfast which came with Scrambled Farm Eggs with Kale, Tomatoes, and White Cheddar (I think it was supposed to have mushrooms but I ordered it without), Spicy Breakfast Potatoes, choice of Bacon or Sausage, and a side of Toast. The menu is created based on what is in season so currently these eggs are served with red and green peppers, squash, zucchini, and white cheddar.
Kevin opted for the Egg’s Benedict which is served in traditional form with Nueske’s Ham, Poached Farm Eggs, Hollandaise, English Muffin, and Spicy Breakfast Potatoes.
Farmhouse is one of our favorite brunch spots and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals! The service was fantastic and the restaurant itself is charming and quaint just like you would expect from a real farmhouse. I highly recommend trying out their brunch. I plan on making a visit for dinner sometime as well.
Farmhouse is located at 227 W. Chicago Ave. in Chicago’s River North neighborhood
