If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you know that Kevin and I love going out for Sunday brunch. Last week I wrote about one of our favorite brunch places and today I am sharing with you another one of our favorites. We brunched at GT Fish & Oyster for the first time earlier this year and it was love at first bite. We loved it so much we took my parents and sister when they visited several months ago. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with a nautical theme to pair with their seafood menu.
The first time we stopped in for brunch was actually for Chicago Restaurant Week in February. We came in with the intention of ordering off of the prix fixe menu but both ended up ordering from their regular brunch menu instead. Kevin started off with their Bloody Mary which is garnished with shrimp and pickled vegetables. This is another one of his favorite Bloody Mary’s in Chicago.
At the recommendation of our waiter, we started our meal by ordering a couple of Oyster Po’Boy Sliders. I cannot say enough good things about these sliders! The fried oysters are topped with spicy kimchi and served on a sweet roll and are just perfection. We craved these babies for weeks after our meal. A definite must order!
For his meal, Kevin ordered one of his favorite brunch dishes – the chilaquilles. Chilaquilles are basically breakfast nachos and the ones served at GT are top notch. Their version is topped with duck confit, salsa verde, queso fresco, and a fried egg. I definitely stole a few bites of this dish it was so good.
For my meal, I opted for the Crab Benedict which was also fantastic. The crab was perfectly sweet and served with swiss chard, hollandaise, poached egg, and english muffin. This dish was very filling with the amount of crab meat packed on so I could only eat half.
We also shared an order of their country potatoes which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
I would love to go back and try their Lobster Roll which is supposed to be outstanding!
GT Fish & Oyster also serves lunch and dinner and is definitely on my list of places to go. I would highly recommend dining in for brunch. The service is quick and the food is excellent!
GT Fish & Oyster is located at 531 N. Wells St. in Chicago’s River North neighborhood
I’m not a fan of seafood but that looks seriously awesome! I’m so glad to hear the food lives up to the pictures!
Oh yeah! Definitely check it out sometime. They have enough other non-seafood options that I think you should be able to find something. They have a savory monkey bread that I hear is awesome!
