Good Monday morning afternoon! This post is coming to you a little later today since I didn’t get home until late last night. We had a fabulous weekend visiting with family and I was so sad to see it end. Kevin, my parents, and I headed south to Alabama to visit my brother and sister-in-law and we had the best time! Kyle and Faith moved to a new city a couple of months ago so it was our first time visiting their new home and we loved every minute of our time there. Here is what we were up to:
{friday}
My brother is a high school football coach so Friday night was spent at the field watching his game. Our flight landed in Birmingham around 5:30 so we picked up our rental car and drove straight to the high school. It was a beautiful night and we had fun cheering on a Walker Viking victory! The high school booster club provides a meal for the coaches and their families after each game so we got to join them which I thought was so nice! I loved seeing my brother in his element. He was definitely born to be a teacher/coach!
{saturday}
Saturday was Kyle’s 25th birthday so we spent the day celebrating him! We started the morning with Chick-fil-A breakfast – the best! Faith got me hooked on the Chick-n Minis when she visited earlier this summer – so good! After breakfast we took a little tour of Jasper and walked around their downtown area. We had lunch at Warehouse 3Nineteen which was really good and would be a great spot to watch football.
After lunch we stopped to take some pictures in their town square and then headed home to do what the birthday boy wanted – watch college football!
We spent the rest of the day watching college football and continuing the birthday celebrations. Kyle grilled some sausage and Faith made a delicious game time spread for the Alabama game including queso dip, lil’ smokies in BBQ sauce, and spinach dip.
We cheered on a Bama victory (Roll Tide!) and watched LSU beat Ole Miss in a terrible way to lose. Kyle opened up his birthday presents and we ate strawberry cake for dessert!
{sunday}
Sunday morning we went to church and then ate lunch together at Los Reyes Grill. We filled up on chips and salsa and I had some awesome chilaquilles.
After lunch, we sadly had to say goodbye. We had so much fun visiting Kyle and Faith and I love their cute little house and community they live in. They even have swings in the tree in their front yard!
Kevin and I drove back to Birmingham for our flight home. We drove through Mountain Brook on the way in hopes to spot some of the Jersey Belle ladies, but no such luck. 😉 We did stop in Mountain Brook Creamery for some ice cream though.
Of course no trip to Alabama would be complete without some Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ so we picked up some of their famous biscuits to go.
We had a fantastic weekend and as always the visit was way too short! Thanks to our wonderful hosts, Kyle and Faith, for having us! We are already looking forward to seeing everyone again at Christmas!
