Happy Monday! How was your weekend? It was a beautiful weekend here with temperatures around 40 degrees and the sun shining which made it temporarily not feel like winter. I even went sans heavy coat while running errands on Sunday and it was fantastic! Unfortunately, I do not get MLK Day off at my job so this was not a three day weekend for me. If it is for you, I hope you enjoy your Monday off! Whatever you were up to, I hope you had a great weekend. Here is what my weekend looked like:
FRIDAY | After work I met Kevin for dinner at Lake Street Kitchen. Lake Street is one of those restaurants that has a great atmosphere and I want to love it, but the food is always just average. I ordered a cup of Chicken Chili Verde which was pretty good and two Pulled Pork Tacos which were decent but extremely salty!
After dinner we walked over to the movie theatre to see Selma. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, I highly recommend it. The story it tells is one we all need to hear and really made me think about how much racial segregation still occurs today. It’s very enlightening and is so inspirational to see the courage Martin Luther King Jr. had to stand up for what he believed in and knew was right. The entire theatre broke out in applause at the end and then sat silent through the credits.
SATURDAY | I had to work all morning which is very rare that I actually have to on a weekend. Luckily I was able to work remotely so I set up my office at home which included coffee and an oatmeal pancake for breakfast.
Later that afternoon, Kevin and I went to the mall and then headed out to our friends, Matt and Ashton’s, house to celebrate both of their birthdays and their recent engagement! We had a great time catching up and hearing all about their upcoming wedding plans. Ashton is super organized and has a lot of major details planned out already. We are excited for their wedding in November!
SUNDAY | We started our morning by going to church and the service was wonderful! We had a new band lead worship which was awesome! We also had a guest speaker from another local church who delivered a phenomenal message out of the book of Philippians. Today’s service was one of those that left me exhausted (in a good way) as I left church because I was so moved and hit hard by a lot of the message spoken and words to the songs we sang.
After church we had breakfast at a diner close to our house – Delia’s Kitchen. I opted for a traditional breakfast of scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, hashbrowns, and a side of gluten free toast. It may not look the prettiest, but it was all very tasty!
I spent the rest of the afternoon running errands and doing a little shopping while Kevin worked on homework. Kevin’s mom made us a gluten free lasagna and we enjoyed that while watch Parenthood later that evening.
That’s my weekend in a nutshell!
What were you up to this weekend? Do you have today off?
