If you love modern Asian cuisine, then Sunda is the restaurant for you.
Sunda is a part of the restaurant group Rockit Ranch Productions which also includes one of my favorite new restaurants – Bottlefork. We’ve dined at Sunda a couple of different times and love its fun, lively atmosphere as well as the fantastic food. Fun fact: the first time we ate here several years ago, Jeremy Piven was eating at the table next to us.
Most recently, Kevin and I stopped in on a whim without a reservation and were able to sit at the sushi bar for our meal. The menu is designed for sharing so we ordered a few different dishes to try. First up we ordered a tuna sushi roll which had avocado in it and was very fresh tasting and delicious.
Our next dish was by far the star of our meal! The Crispy Brussels Sprouts salad is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten and is a must order when dining at Sunda. The salad consists of Brussels sprouts, red cabbage, carrots, chiles, fried shallots, and a minced shrimp nuoc cham vinaigrette. We were seriously tempted to order another one of these it was that good.
Finally we ordered Chicken Pad Thai which was also very good. The tamarind sauce had a slightly sweet taste which I liked.
This is just a small sample of Sunda’s huge menu which offers Dim Sum, Asian Grill dishes, Noodles and Rice, Sushi, as well as some of their own New Asian Creations. Sunday is the perfect spot for a date night or a fun girls night out.
Sunda is located at 110 W. Illinois in Chicago’s River North neighborhood
Sunda is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The sushi is the best. Thank you for sharing your review and I hope that you have a great day!
Agreed! Sunda has some of the best sushi! It’s one of those restaurants we don’t go to nearly enough.
