It’s no secret that I love a good barbecue restaurant, as seen here, here, and here. Recently Kevin and I visited a much more casual barbecue establishment with quick counter service. Q BBQ has three locations in Chicago (Lakeview), La Grange, and Naperville. We stopped in the La Grange location for dinner on our way home from an afternoon in the Western suburbs a few weeks ago. Based on the line that was out the door, we knew it must be good eats. Once we made it to the front of the line, we approached the menu with our usual strategy when ordering barbecue and selected one of their meat plates so we could sample multiple items.
We chose the Two Meats Plate and selected Pulled Pork and Sliced Brisket as our options. Both meats were tender and had delicious flavor from the hickory and apple woods they are smoked with. Each plate also comes with your choice of two sides and hush puppies. We did not get the hush puppies since we were both eating gluten free at the time, but for our sides we chose BBQ Baked Beans and their Creamy Q-Slaw. The sides are small, but tasty. I especially loved the BBQ Baked Beans!
In addition to our BBQ plate, we also chose to add a “Taste of Ribs” and a specialty side of their Brussels Sprouts. The rib meat fell right off the bone and tasted great with their Memphis Sweet BBQ sauce. One of the highlights of the entire meal for me were the Brussels Sprouts which were fried to salty perfection!
If you are looking for some really casual barbecue that doesn’t compromise on flavor, then Q BBQ is for you. Their Chicago location even serves brunch on the weekend which I can’t wait to try!
Q BBQ is located at 70 S. La Grange Rd. in La Grange | 103 S. Main St. in Naperville | 714 W. Diversey in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood
The Lakeview location is within walking distance from where we live. It is SO good!! We took my parents there too and they enjoyed it too. Definitely returning soon!! π
I can’t wait to check out the brunch menu at the Lakeview location!

Since you were eating GF at the time do you know if the BBQ sauce they use is GF?! That would be awesome bc I would love to try the one in Naperville!
Yes – all of their sauces are gluten free! And the baked beans and coleslaw are gluten free sides! Neither of us have Celiacs so we don’t have to be too cautious but for you I would verify with the Naperville location (it should be the same) just in case! π
