When Kevin first started working after graduating from college, one of his favorite places to have lunch was at Braxton Seafood in Oak Brook which was conveniently located across the street from his office. That restaurant has since closed and is now Devon Seafood Grill. With locations in both downtown Chicago and Oakbrook Terrace, this restaurant is perfect for any seafood lover.
Last year we visited the Oak Brook location for Kevin’s mom’s birthday dinner. We were immediately greeted by our pleasant waitress upon being seated and her cheerful demeanor continued throughout our entire time at the restaurant. We commented several times on how great and helpful the service was.
To begin our meal, we ordered a half dozen of fresh chilled oysters to share. The oysters were served with a house cocktail sauce and mignonette which were delicious. Although we typically prefer west coast oysters, this east coast variety was still fantastic.
For my main course, I ordered the Blackened Sea Scallops which were served over a Bacon, Sweet Potato, and Corn Hash and a Sweet Corn Puree. The scallops were done perfectly and the slight heat from the blackened seasoning paired wonderfully with the sweet corn.
Kevin ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna which came with a choice of vegetable and shareable side. He chose the Loaded Baked Potato and Lobster Mac and Cheese. His tuna was prepared beautifully with a rare center and his sides were great as well.
I stole a couple bites of his lobster mac and it was definitely worth the extra calories! And can I just point out how cute the little pot is it was served in?
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Devon and I would love to try the downtown location as well especially since they have an Oyster Bar upstairs.
