Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Even though I had mixed feelings about my 30th birthday on Friday, I woke up feeling completely fine the next day. My birthday was made that much better thanks to all of your sweet comments and other texts/calls throughout the day. Cheers to 30! Here is how I celebrated this weekend:
THURSDAY | Kevin has class on Thursday nights so for dinner I decided to cash in my free birthday bowl at Noodles. I ordered the Whole Grain Tuscan Fresca which is one of my favorites! For those of you who don’t know, if you sign up for emails from Noodles, you get a free bowl during your birthday month!
FRIDAY | I always take my birthday off from work and this year was no different. I slept in a little and woke up to some pink tulips and a Vitamix from Kevin! I have wanted a Vitamix for years so was pretty excited to see this sitting on my kitchen counter!
I stopped in Sugar Fixe Patisserie for a slice of quiche and an iced coffee and sat outside for a long time reading and enjoying the nice day! I finished reading Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah a while ago and loved it so I am currently reading another one of her books called Fly Away which involves some of the same characters.
I spent some more time reading while treating myself to a mani/pedi. I went with two of my favorite colors and got OPI – Mod About You on my toes and Essie – Cute As A Button on my fingers.
I spent the afternoon doing some shopping which included a stop at Loft for their 40% sale and a stop in Starbucks for my free birthday drink. I even splurged for a Trenta!
Afterwards I went home to get ready for dinner and then drove downtown to meet Kevin at his office. He made the dinner reservation for us and didn’t tell me where we were going so I hopped out of the driver’s seat and was driven to Piccolo Sogno! I have been wanting to eat here for years and was so excited when we pulled up to the restaurant. Piccolo Sogno has the most beautiful outdoor patio and I was so happy to sit outside while eating dinner.
The food and service were both amazing and we enjoyed the most wonderful Italian food including this ricotta cheesecake for dessert! Stay tuned for a full review!
SATURDAY | Kevin joined me on my weekly trip to the Farmers Market. A lot of the normal vendors were actually missing this week due to all of the rain/flooding we got last week. We still were able to pick up some kale and zucchini for the week. We also stopped at The 206 Food Truck and ordered a waffle to share. Their waffles are the BEST!
Afterwards we went to Live Fresko for some fresh squeezed juice and sat outside for a while talking and people watching.
My parents decided to drive up from West Lafayette later that day so we had a late brunch outside at Marion Street Cheese Market. I ordered a Burrata Panzanella which was delicious!
It was beautiful a afternoon out so we spent the rest of the day walking around downtown Oak Park. We also spent some time walking around looking at the Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the area. They had to drive back home later that evening, but it was nice to have them come visit the day! After they left, Kevin and I were flipping through the TV guide and came across the Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig movie on Lifetime. Did anyone else watch this? It was pretty much like every other Lifetime movie which I like, but I’m pretty sure Kevin would have stopped watching after 5 minutes had it not been for the cast.
SUNDAY | We had church in the morning and then met our friends, Mandy and Sean, for lunch at a new place that just opened in Lakeview called Barcocina. We split a bunch of different tacos and my favorite were by far the fish tacos!
After lunch Kevin had to get back home to work on homework so I spent the rest of the afternoon outside reading with more of my favorite iced coffee.
I ran some errands and grocery shopped for the week before picking up thai food from Penny’s Noodle Shop for dinner. I had the Pad Se Eu which was a nice change from my usual Pad Thai order (sorry not the most appetizing photo). While eating, we got sucked into watching Celebrity Family Feud which was pretty funny.
It was a great 30th birthday weekend! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well! π
Linking up with Biana.
Looks like you had an amazing birthday weekend! I am so happy that the weather was nice here at least for the weekend….looks like its going to be another rain filled week….what is up with this Chicago weather?

Sounds like a wonderful birthday weekend! That burratta dish looks delicious. I like Piccolo Songo but my husband does not. Boo. We went to Barcocina a few weeks ago. I really liked the guacamole with the balsamic drizzled on top and I tried the Barcocina lemonade cocktail too which was also delicious. π
It was a great weekend! I absolutely loved everything about Piccolo Sogno – that’s too bad your husband didn’t like it! Barcocina was a fun new spot too!
