Standard Market Grill is one of those restaurants that has a menu that will please everyone’s taste buds. It is the perfect place to grab a meal when you want chef-inspired fare with a casual atmosphere. There menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, pizzas, and special dinner features such as their pork chop and steak frites. They have a restaurant located in Lincoln Park as well as two restaurants in the western suburbs (Naperville and Westmont) that are located inside of a fantastic artisan grocery store, Standard Market.
Kevin and I have dined at Standard Market Grill several times and have loved our meals every single time. My go to order is the Southern BBQ Chicken Sandwich with Grilled Chicken, Monterey Jack Cheese, BBQ Sauce, Honey Mustard, Red Onion, Coleslaw, and Arugula all on a Pretzel Bun. All of the flavors in this sandwich are so phenomenal together. I especially love the tangy coleslaw and peppery arugula combined with the sweet barbeque chicken. All sandwiches are served with your choice of French Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Coleslaw, Kale Slaw, or the Market Salad. I always choose the sweet potato fries and I love how thick they cut them. I also love the honey mustard dipping sauce they come with – yum!
Kevin’s favorite thing to order is the Brunch Burger with Hook’s Cheddar Cheese, BBQ Aioli, Applewood Smoked Bacon, and a Fried Egg on a Pretzel Bun. (He ordered his without a bun to make it gluten free). This is one of his favorite burgers and he also loves their fries!
Some other things I have tried is the Molten Grilled Cheese made with Hook’s Cheddar Cheese, White American Cheese, and Applewood Smoked Bacon. This sandwich is HUGE and so good! I love the two types of cheeses and the bacon just makes it that much better.
One of my favorite salads is their Four Farmers Salad which is a mix of Grilled Chicken, Field Greens, Dates, Hazelnuts, Goat Cheese, Cornbread Croutons, Campari Tomatoes, and Avocado all tossed in a Champagne Vinaigrette. I love the combination of the tangy goat cheese with the sweetness of the dates.
Standard Market Grill is the perfect spot for a casual Friday night dinner with family or friends. The food is delicious and they serve huge portions. They also offer several complimentary flavored fruit waters which I appreciate (my favorite is the pineapple). And if you happen to visit one of the locations in the suburbs, be sure to check out the awesome grocery store and pick up some goods for the week.
