A few weeks ago Kevin and I met his mom and dad for dinner at DOC Wine Bar in Lombard. It was a beautiful summer night so we enjoyed our dinner on the patio.
We started our meal with a couple of appetizers. My choice were the Chorizo Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Dates. Any time bacon wrapped dates are on a menu I am immediately drawn to them. I love the sweet and salty combination of bacon and dates. DOC’s version were delicious, but nothing can compare to my favorite version at Avec.
We also decided to try a special of the evening which were Mexican style Elotes with Parmesan which was also really tasty.
For my meal I ordered the Wrightwood Salad which is one of my favorite salads at one of their sister restaurant’s, Crosby’s Kitchen. This salad is topped with Roasted Chicken, Tomatoes, Craisins, Avocado, Corn, Almonds, and Goat Cheese. I was craving a fresh salad this evening and this one definitely hit the spot.
Kevin ordered the New York Strip Steak with a Cabernet Compound Butter and side of Fries. Unfortunately, his meal fell short. He ordered his steak medium rare and it was served more on the medium well side. The cabernet butter also didn’t have any flavor which was disappointing. He did enjoy his fries though.
Kevin’s mom ordered the Gnocchi with Peas and Pancetta which was a special for the night and she enjoyed her dish.
Kevin’s dad went with the Maryland Style Crab Cakes with a Creole Dipping Sauce which he enjoyed very much! I stole a bite and also thought they tasted great and loved the dipping sauce. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a picture so you’ll have to use your imagination. 🙂
Although we were too full to order dessert, they are famously known for their Lincoln Park Chocolate Chip Cookie with Vanilla Ice Cream and Caramel Drizzle which I will be ordering next time.
Overall, I really enjoyed DOC Wine Bar and think it’s a great spot for a casual dinner out. Although the steak was a miss, everything else we ordered tasted great. I would recommend going to DOC with some friends for some girl talk over wine and apps.
