Good morning! How was your weekend? We had nothing on the agenda and did basically just that. And it was awesome! Unfortunately, we didn’t “schedule” our weekend of nothing very well. Purdue, Notre Dame, AND the Bears all had a bye week so Kevin was pretty bummed when he found out the one weekend he could sit and watch football uninterrupted that none of this teams were playing. Oops! Anyways, today’s recap should be pretty short and sweet.
FRIDAY | I spent some time walking around our downtown area while I waited for Kevin to get home from work. They have it decorated so cute for fall!
After he got home we went to Kinderhook Tap for dinner. Last week I started my second round of Whole 30 so I ordered a grass-fed beef burger sans cheese and bun. It was delish! I love the tomato jam that normally comes on it, but I’m pretty sure it has sugar in it so I couldn’t eat that either.
It was cold and rainy so after dinner we just headed back home for the evening where I immediately threw on my favorite sweater leggings and spent the rest of the night reading magazines with a hot tea in hand. Perfection!
SATURDAY | It rained on and off most of the morning, but we managed to make it to the Farmers Market for one last trip before the season ends next weekend. We also had my favorite Saturday morning breakfast at Blue Max Coffee (I gave Kevin my toast).
After breakfast the rain let up and the sun came out for just enough time to take a long morning/afternoon walk. We ended up walking 5 miles just exploring our neighborhood and saw so many beautiful fall colors!
After our walk Kevin worked on his paper for school and I ran some errands and grocery shopped. First on the list was a long overdue manicure. A new nail salon just opened near my house and they were running a 50% off special so my manicure only cost me $6! What a deal!
The nail salon is so cute on the inside too! I love the bright pink walls!
I ended up with one of my favorite fall colors from Essie: Merino Cool. PS – why is it so hard/awkward to take a picture of your nails? I never know what to do with my hand!
While grocery shopping, I made myself a big salad from Whole Foods for dinner. Kevin went to the Blackhawks game with his friend Matt that evening so I was on my own. I caught up on Scandal and watched a Lifetime movie. Two lazy nights in a row = awesome!
SUNDAY | We went to church in the morning where we got to see our friend Jess and her new baby boy Gavin. Gavin was born less than two weeks ago and he was so tiny and cute! I loved getting to meet him. After church we had brunch at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba. I ordered the baked eggs with tomato sauce and pumpkin seed pesto which was so good. I had to skip out on the bread for this meal too.
It was gorgeous outside so we spent some time walking around Lincoln Park and it seemed everybody else had the same idea. There were people everywhere. We also brought our camera and tripod with us and took our Christmas card pictures. We saw at least ten other families doing the same thing. It really was the perfect day for pictures. And this skyline view never gets old!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
