Hey y’all! Hope you had a fun Halloween weekend! We didn’t do much Halloween-ing around here, but instead celebrated Kevin’s 30th birthday! Unfortunately, I neglected to take a lot of pictures. Here is what we were up to:
FRIDAY | I took the day off work and Kevin worked a half day so we kicked off his birthday weekend early. This weekend was all about doing some of his favorite things! We had lunch at Egg Harbor Cafe where I had the most delicious Potato and Leek soup.
We stopped by the mall so Kevin could get some new dress shirts he was in desperate need of. He got a birthday coupon in the mail from Brooks Bros. and they were having a sale so he ended up getting a pretty good deal on his shirts.
Later that evening I went over to my friend Callie’s house for a girls’ night with our other friend Bethany. We watched Hocus Pocus and ate lots of yummy snacks! It had been a few years since any of us had watched Hocus Pocus so it was fun revisiting the Sanderson sisters. 🙂
SATURDAY | Unfortunately we woke up to rain which didn’t let up the entire day. We didn’t let the miserable weather stop us from a fun day though! I ventured out to our last Farmers Market of the season and picked up some Honeycrisp apples. I then stopped in a local bakery and picked up some chocolate sprinkle donuts for Kevin’s birthday. I attempted to be creative and write “30” with them. 🙂
We watched part of the Purdue game (they finally won!) and then Kevin met this friend Matt for lunch at another one of his favorite places DMK Burger Bar. While he was out I snuggled up under blankets with my green tea and watched my first Hallmark Channel Christmas movie of the season. It’s never too soon for Christmas movies!
Once Kevin got home we finished watching the Purdue game and I ran a few errands like picking up his birthday cake, etc. We had our friends Mandy and Sean over later that evening for the Notre Dame game (another win!) and to celebrate Kevin’s birthday. I ordered a nugget tray for Chick-Fil-A and we had a Portillo’s chocolate cake for dessert. Happy Birthday, Kevin!
Here is my one picture of the day with the birthday boy and my attempt at dressing up for Halloween. 🙂
SUNDAY | We had church in the morning and then went to Kevin’s favorite brunch restaurant The Publican. I had the duck confit with kale pesto and butternut squash which was awesome!
After brunch we came home and watched the Bears game which sadly they lost. Later that evening we went to dinner with Kevin’s mom and dad to another one of Kev’s favorite spots Sunda. He wanted sushi for his birthday dinner and they have some of the best in Chicago. And of course we had to get their famous Crispy Brussels Sprouts Salad.
That was pretty much our weekend in a nutshell! I had a great time celebrating Kevin’s birthday with him and doing some of his favorite things. I can’t believe we’re 30!!
