Whether you’re ready or not, Christmas is just around the corner and most stores have been letting us know it for several weeks now. I love Thanksgiving and am not one to skip over it, but there are already so many fun Christmas events taking place in the month of November that I wanted to share them with you. For those of you local to the Chicago area, here are some fun and FREE events you won’t want to miss this month.
Macy’s Windows: Each year Macy’s creates beautiful window displays for Christmas. It’s so fun to walk around and look at the windows while following the story they tell. The window displays will be up from November 5 – December 31, 2015.
Christkindlmarket Chicago: Located in Daley Plaza and inspired by the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, the Christkindlmarket is a free outdoor Christmas festival where you can sip on some Gleuhwein in a souvenir mug while enjoying German food and shopping for handmade gifts and ornaments. The market will operate from November 20 – December 24, 2015.
Magnificent Mile Lights Festival: A grand tree lighting parade down Michigan Ave lead by Mickey and Minnie Mouse. This will take place on Saturday, November 21 at 5:30 PM.
Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony: This year the tree has been moved from Daley Plaza to Millennium Park and the lighting will take place on Tuesday, November 24 at 6 PM.
Lincoln Park Zoo Lights: A family-oriented holiday celebration, featuring luminous displays and holiday-season activities throughout zoo grounds. The switch will flip on for the season on Friday, November 27 at 4:30 PM.
What are some of your favorite Christmas events?

I love all of this! Addy and I are planning on being downtown on the 22nd to enjoy a bit of the festivities. Any suggestions for lunch? We’re also celebrating my mom’s 60th birthday.
