Have you ever wished there was a vending machine that offers fresh and healthy food? Well you no longer have to wish with Farmer’s Fridge! Their mission is to turn the vending machine into a veggie machine. And make access to healthy, delicious food the rule, not the exception.
Here’s how it works:
-
They get fresh produce every morning.
-
They make everything from scratch and have it ready by 5 a.m. so it’s ready to deliver to their kiosks.
-
They deliver the salads to the machine by 10 a.m.
-
The remove the unsold salads (which they donate to a local food pantry).
-
They deliver menu items Monday through Friday when they are most in demand. You can still find their offerings over the weekend, as they stay at peak freshness for three days.
They have more than 30 kiosks located around the Chicago area and they are super easy to use. You select your menu items from the touch screen, swipe your credit card, and your items are dispensed. The salads are reasonably priced at $8 and they have smaller snack items and breakfast items as well.
I tried the North Napa Salad with napa cabbage, grapes, chickpeas, avocado, feta cheese, and pistachios. I loved the crunchy napa cabbage with the feta cheese and grapes!
