We had such a fun 4th of July weekend jam packed full of activities. Here is what we were up to.
FRIDAY | It was a beautiful night so Kevin suggested we go to the Downers Grove Car Show. We walked around and looked at all of the old cars. I’m not very into cars but it was a nice night to be outside.
After the car show we ate dinner at Standard Market. I had a steak salad which was really good!
We stopped by Kevin’s mom and dad’s new house for a quick visit before heading back home. I spent the rest of the evening watching Something Borrowed which is one of my favorite movies.
SATURDAY | Saturday was a pool day for us. We spent all day over at out friend Sean’s condo lounging by his pool with him and Mandy.
Sean grilled burgers for dinner and we ate outside on his balcony.
Once we got home I took a walk around our neighborhood. I love looking at all of the old homes!
SUNDAY | Kevin and I went to church in the morning and then had breakfast at Elly’s. We both ordered skillets which were huge.
Afterwards we walked around the nature walk in Lincoln Park which has great views of the skyline.
We then went to the Chicago History Museum and spent a few hours exploring there. My favorite part was seeing an “L” car from 1892.
We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around Lincoln Park and Lakeview. We found this cute little house that I wanted to move right into.
We stopped at Avenue Tavern for some drink specials during our walk as well.
We ran a few errands once we got home and then had dinner at Q BBQ. We shared the two meat plate with brisket and wings.
When we got home I watched another one of my favorite movies – The Intern.
MONDAY | We went to our friends, Matt and Ashton’s, annual 4th of July BBQ/party at their house in Naperville. Matt grilled burgers and brats and we had a fun time hanging out with friends.
Kevin and I came back to Oak Park to watch the fireworks that evening. We walked over to the high school’s football stadium to watch the show.
It was a great 4th of July!
