Good Monday morning to you! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Mine was full of friends and family time which was so good for my soul.
Friday: I kicked off my weekend with a fresh spring manicure. I always feel so much better when my nails are painted and let me tell you mine were much overdue!

After my nail appointment, Kevin met me for dinner at a restaurant across the street, Lake Street Kitchen. Because of the warm temps, we were able to dine outside which was so nice! We shared a couple of salads and flatbreads for our meals.

Saturday: My friend Mandy picked me up bright and early and we drove down to West Lafayette for our friend, Kelly’s, baby shower! Kelly has been my very best friend since grade school and I am so so excited for she and her husband, Patricio, as they are expecting TWIN GIRLS in June! Kelly lives in Indianapolis and even though it’s not too far, I don’t get to see her nearly as often as I would like. Her shower was so much fun and it was so great to catch up with her and shower her with love and gifts for a day. I cannot wait for those precious babies to arrive! Here are some pictures from Saturday:

Kelly’s mom is famous for her chocolate chip cookies which were the favors for the guests.
Kelly announced the names of the girls at the end of the shower, but before the big reveal we had a baby name bracket competition to guess the names! I happened to win the bracket (I guessed one name correctly and had the other one in my final four) and the prize was more cookies which Kevin was super excited about me bringing home. The babies names are Claire Anne and Kate Marie which I couldn’t love more!
Whenever I get to visit with my friends, it’s both a happy and sad time for me. I love getting to spend time with them and it always seems like we are able to pick up right where we left off. On the other hand, it makes me sad to leave knowing it will be another several weeks or months before we are together again.
West Lafayette is not only my hometown, but also my college town – Boiler Up! After the shower, Mandy and I drove around campus and relived our glory days. We stopped by the bookstores and picked up some new Purdue gear before we headed back to Chicago.
Saturday happened to be National Grilled Cheese Day so Kevin met up with me and Mandy and we hit up Cheesie’s Pub and Grub for some grilled cheese sammies! I had the caprese which was so good and fresh tasting!
Sunday: We spent the day doing the usual activities – church, brunch, and blogging/homework. The morning started off sunny and warm, but by noon the fog had rolled in and temps had dropped by about 15 degrees. After brunch, the rest of the day was spent indoors.
For brunch, we went to The Publican in West Loop. How this was our first time trying their brunch, I don’t know. This is hands down our new favorite brunch spot. I had smoked whitefish with a poached egg on toast and Kevin had the ham steak with grits. The Publican is known for their meats and I can see why – the flavor of everything was amazing! We are already planning when we can go back!
Cheers to the weekend!
