TGIF!!! You know what that means – I am linking up with Christina, April, Darci, and Natasha for another edition of Five on Friday!

Is next week really MAY already?? Where did April go? Oh yeah, it was just another month of winter for us! I am so ready for warm weather to get here and stay for good!! In just a few short weeks, the farmer’s markets should be open and in full swing and I cannot wait! One of my favorite summer time activities is going to the farmer’s market on Saturday mornings and buying fresh produce and flowers each week. Peonies, hydrangeas, dahlias…I can’t wait to have fresh flowers in the house again! For now, Trader Joe’s $5.99 tulip bouquets do the trick 😉

Purchased tickets to two different summer concerts this week! First, John Legend at Ravinia during my birthday week in June!! Ravinia is a huge outdoor concert venue north of Chicago where you can bring in your own food/drinks, and let me tell you some people go ALL out when planning their spreads. It is crazy to see some of the set ups people bring in! Last year, Kevin’s parents got us this table in a bag from Crate and Barrel so we’re excited to use it this year!
Second, Windy City Smokeout! Windy City Smokeout is a BBQ and Country Music Fest in Chicago. Last summer was the first year for the festival and we had a great time! We ate tons of awesome BBQ from local restaurants while listening to David Nail perform. The festival is over three days with different artists performing each day. This year we are going for the Eli Young Band. Can’t wait!!

Picked up a new book this week and am excited to start reading it this weekend! Bittersweet is written by Shauna Niequist who is one of my favorite authors. Her writing is real and raw and she knows how to speak to and captivate her audience through real life stories of her own. I thoroughly enjoyed her other two books, Cold Tangerines and Bread and Wine, and would HIGHLY encourage you to read them too.

Have you heard of the show Chicagoland? It is a CNN series about the politics and education in Chicago. Last night was the final show of the season and I’m sad it’s over. It was a great mini-documentary that talked about and showed some real issues in parts of our city that I admittedly don’t alway pay attention to. It definitely was eye opening and inspiring to see some people who are giving their lives to invest in the lives of others.

So excited for a lunch date with some girlfriends from church on Saturday. We are meeting up at Blue Door and I can’t wait to catch up with these girls and get to eat at Blue Door again!
Whatever your plans are for this weekend, hope you all have a fabulous/restful few days!
xoxo – Paige
