Happy Monday, loves! Today is my first day off work for Christmas break and I am currently writing to you from my couch in my pajamas – perfection! We had a very full weekend spent with friends and family and I realized I was terrible at taking pictures with everyone so unfortunately not many to show today. Here is what I was up to:
FRIDAY | After work I booked a much needed manicure appointment. I decided to get some festive nails for Christmas and chose Essie – Double Breasted Jacket with an accent nail in gold glitter.
Kevin and I met our friends, Mandy and Sean, in Millennium Park for some Caroling at Cloud Gate or “The Bean” as most people call it.
After caroling we headed to dinner at Bottlefork. Bottlefork is one of our favorite restaurants and this meal did not disappoint! We shared several different dishes including these delicious Pimento Cheese “Tots”.
SATURDAY | It was pretty much a lazy morning for me. I ran a couple of errands, did some cleaning, and watched The Family Stone. Later that afternoon, Kevin’s parents came over and we headed downtown for dinner. We went to Chicago Q and ate some delicious BBQ! Full review on this restaurant tomorrow.
One of our traditions with Kevin’s parents is to see a Christmas musical and or play every year. Last year we saw A Christmas Carol. This year we saw something a little different. We went to The Second City productition of Twist Your Dickens or Scrooge You at The Goodman Theatre. The show is a parody on A Christmas Carol with other Christmas shows intertwined like A Charlie Brown Christmas. It was hilarious! I would highly recommend it
SUNDAY | Kevin worked on a paper for school in the morning while I made some snacks for a get together we were going to later that afternoon. Early afternoon we headed over to our friends’ house for our annual Christmas party with our old small group friends. We always do a white elephant gift exchange and this year I ended up with Rick Bayless cookbook so I was pretty happy about that! Most everyone in the group has kids now so it was fun with all the little ones this year too.
After the party we went to the Sunday night service at our church before meeting our friends, Brian and Katie, for dinner. They were in town from Cincinnati celebrating Christmas with Brian’s family so it was nice to see them while they were here! We went to Kinmont which is actually where we ate with them when they visited for the 4th of July too. I had some of the best shrimp cocktail I have ever eaten and we had a good time catching up!
We had a wonderful weekend seeing so many different friends! Tomorrow starts our several days of Christmas with family so I am extra excited about that as well!
Sounds like a great weekend! I love Chicago Q – used to live right down the street.
Isn’t it so good? We’ve taken several out of town guests to Chicago Q and everyone always loves it! 🙂

I absolutely love Q! Cant wait to hear your review about it. Those picked and bbq chips….soooo good!
I’m pretty sure I could be satisfied by just eating the pickles and chips alone! So good!
