Happy Friday! And happy first day of spring!! I saw the first signs of spring sprouting from the ground on my street this week and I can’t wait until all of the tulips are in bloom on the Mag Mile.
We have plans to go see the new Divergent Series movie this weekend and I am meeting up with some girlfriends for brunch so I am excited about that! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
ONE | A few of my girlfriends and I decided to start a monthly dinner club which I am loving so far! Last month we met at Summer House for restaurant week and this month we switched things up a bit and met at an Albany Park neighborhood restaurant – Salam for some Middle Eastern food. Sadly I could not partake of their delicious hummus, but I did get a Lebanese Salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, and sweet peppers) with a Chicken Kabob on top which was delish!
TWO | I’m pretty sure our blender is officially dunzo (Laguna Beach reference anyone?)! It’s been acting funny for a while now, but this week I went to make my morning smoothie and when I turned it on to blend this happened:
Yes, the lid was on – all of the liquid shot out of the bottom and all over me, the counter, and the floor. That sure was fun to clean up! I really want a Vitamix but they are SO expensive! Any recommendations for good blenders that don’t cost $400??
THREE | I received these hair products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes and was really excited when they arrived! I used the shampoo/conditioner this week and although I loved the way they made my hair feel, I did not love the smell! They had a very strong floral smell (the passion flower extracts) which was too much for me. I have a super sensitive nose and anything that smells like lilac or lilies, I can’t handle. Put me near actual lilies and I start sneezing immediately. Such a bummer!
FOUR | I made some yummy chicken fajitas (no tortilla for me) for dinner this week to go along with my homemade restaurant style salsa recipe I shared this week. Fajitas are one of the easiest things to make and the possibilities are endless! I like topping mine with some fresh avocado!
FIVE | March Madness is here and my brackets are not doing too well so far – lots of upsets yesterday. Sadly, our beloved Boilermakers lost to Cincinnati in a heartbreaking overtime. That game was too stressful! Thank goodness UNC pulled it out at the end! Did you see all of the emojis they created for the tournament this year? Purdue Pete kind of looks angry to me, but maybe they were trying to give him a fierce look! I know I probably shouldn’t say this, but I think Brutus Buckeye is my favorite.
Have a great weekend everyone!! 🙂

Love seeing the tulips on the Mag Mile!! Summer House was pretty good, but my husband wasn’t a fan. :-/ I hope that you have a great weekend!
I agree about Summer House – I’ve been a couple of times and want to love it, but the food is always just ok to me. I love the ambiance though!

Thanks for sharing the salsa recipe – looks delicious!
You’re welcome! I will never say no to a good salsa!

We have the Ninja blender that comes with 3 individual cups and a large “cup” and it has worked fabulously for us!
Awesome! Thanks for the tip. I will look into the Ninja!

Ditto the Ninja recommendation – we love ours and use it to chop food, blend smoothies, even make soups!
Perfect! Sounds like the Ninja is the way to go!
