It’s finally here! It’s Christmas week! Only two more days of work stand between me and vacation through the New Year! I am so ready for Christmas break and can’t wait to hang out with my family next week. Until then, here is a little look at our weekend.
FRIDAY | Kevin and I grabbed Indian food for dinner at Khyber Pass before going to a movie. I had the Chicken Tikka which was pretty good. I am new to Indian food so I’m starting with the basics. π
We saw the movie Sisters with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler which definitely had some laugh out loud funny parts but I think could have been better.
SATURDAY | It was pretty cold out on Saturday so we declared it a cozy, Christmas movie watching morning. We grabbed coffee and watched White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street.
Our town was hosting its “Home for the Holidays” event downtown so there were free horse drawn sleigh rides, a hot chocolate tent, and Santa was out for kids to visit as well. Kevin and I went on one of the sleigh rides and walked around for a while in the afternoon. It was a fun little event!
Our downtown is decorated really cute for Christmas so I always like walking around and seeing all of the festive decor.
We watched the first half of the Purdue basketball game before heading downtown Chicago for the evening. Every year we go to a Christmas musical with Kevin’s parents. This year we had dinner at Cochon Volant before going to see Straight No Chaser at the Civic Opera House. They sang a lot of Christmas songs during the second act which was great.
SUNDAY | We went to church in the morning and then had breakfast at Blue Max Coffee. This has recently become one of our favorite places and I ordered my usual veggie scramble.
We were seated right next to the fireplace which continued our cozy weekend theme.
It was actually beautiful outside on Sunday so we spent the afternoon running a few errands and made a stop at Oak Brook Center for some shopping. We visited their Christkindlmarket which is the same as the one downtown Chicago just on a smaller scale.
We bought some cinnamon roasted cashews and snacked on those while walking around the mall.
Once we got home we watched the Bears game which we had recorded from earlier. We ended our night by watching Love Actually. π
Hope you all had a good weekend as well!
those cashews look SO GOOD!! and it looks like you had a great time! so happy you are enjoying the season! π
if you get the chance, please take the time to check out my blog! have a great Christmas! π
love, rach.
So, hi.
The cashews were delish! Heading over to check out your blog now.
noooo! I’m so sad that Sisters was just so-so. Was really looking forward to some good laughs and having this be a “must purchase” when it comes out on DVD!
There were definitely funny parts but I don’t think I will be buying it.
I love White Christmas – I haven’t watched it yet this year but it is on my list!
It’s Kevin’s favorite movie – I like Miracle on 34th St.
Indian Food is the Best! Looks like a perfect holiday weekend
