Coconut oil definitely seems to be one of the newer health trends and I am totally on board! After reading about so many different uses for coconut oil, a few months ago I finally decided to pick some up. Kevin actually picked it up for me for the first time at Trader Joe’s and the poor guy had to learn all about it from the cashier. Apparently it was the cashier’s favorite product in the entire store so he proceeded to ask Kevin what he likes to use it for. Of course his reply was, “I don’t know, my wife just told me to buy it.” Well the cashier apparently went on to give him all kinds of tips and tricks for using it, probably more than he ever cared to know, ha! Here are different things I have used coconut oil for:
{one}
Moisturizer – With the terrible winter we had, my skin was more dry than ever! Coconut oil is a natural, safe, and effective moisturizer for your skin. I rub this on my legs and arms before bed. Not only does it work, it makes your skin smell like the beach!

Lip Balm – This winter also caused my lips to be extremely dry ALL THE TIME! To me, there is nothing more annoying than dry, cracked lips – yuck! I rub coconut oil on my lips at night before bed and it seriously works wonders!! This is the best natural lip balm I have found! It is a great softening agent and when I wake up my lips are smoother than ever!

Baking/Cooking – I have recently started using coconut oil as an oil substitute in baking. I love the slight added coconut flavor it gives to things as well as knowing it is a lot healthier than regular vegetable oil. You can see how I used coconut oil in my Vegan Oatmeal Cranberry Cookies here. Coconut oil is also great for greasing pans to cook with.
Some other uses for coconut oil that I would love to try are as a split-end hair treatment and a natural eye makeup remover.
Have you tried coconut oil? What are some of the ways you use it?

I love coconut oil too, for cooking and my hair! I use it as a hair mask on the lower part of my hair about once a week or every other week. I always get compliments the next day on how shiny my hair looks 🙂
