Happy Friday!! Even though this week went by really fast I am so glad it’s a three day weekend! I always love Memorial Day weekend because I feel like it’s the official kickoff to summer! We have a few fun plans this weekend including a Sox game and family cookout so I am looking forward to a fun few days. Here are some events from my week:
ONE | A cute new lunch spot opened in the loop a few weeks ago – Goddess and the Baker – and I checked it out on Monday. I ordered a delicious Kale and Toasted Barley Salad with Medjool Dates and Lemon Vinaigrette. It was a little pricey ($10) but absolutely delicious! They also had an entire case full of delicious looking pastries that I wanted to try. Check out that rainbow cake!
TWO | Speaking of that kale salad, it was a beautiful day on Monday so I was able to enjoy my lunch outside in one of my favorite hidden gems in the city – the gardens at the Art Institute. It felt so good to sit outside in the sun while eating lunch and reading a book.
THREE | Like I just mentioned, the gardens at the Art Institute are one of my favorite spots to sit outside and read in the summer. It’s the perfect little oasis in the middle of a busy city. The flowers there are so pretty I couldn’t help but take a few pictures!
FOUR | On Tuesday I met some girls from my small group for dinner at Charlatan in West Town. It was a great time of conversation and good food. We had the best Grilled Octopus appetizer!
FIVE | Last night I participated in the Chase Corporate Challenge 5K with some coworkers. It was a perfect night for a race and we had a lot of fun!
