Good morning! How was your weekend? We had the perfect fall weather here in Chicago! It was 65 degrees and sunny and a beautiful two days! I had a really fun and relaxing weekend. The only bummer is I woke up with a sore throat on Saturday and now have a full on head cold which I’m pretty sure I caught from being on an airplane last weekend. π Other than that it was a great weekend and I was able to be outside and enjoy the sunshine.
FRIDAY | After work Kevin and I met up at Oyster Fest. As much as we love oysters we basically were only there for one thing – the charbroiled oysters from Drago’s. We fell in love with chargrilled oysters in New Orleans so were pretty excited to see this restaurant was going to be at the fest.
After we had our taste of oysters we went to Rockit for dinner. I ordered the Mediterranean Salad with falafel which was light and delish!
Once we got home from dinner we watched Rudy which is our annual tradition to do before the start of college football season.
SATURDAY | Kevin joined me on my trip to the Farmers Market this morning. Right now is the best time to go because there is so much produce in season. We bought our first honeycrisp apples of the season and they are perfectly sweet and delicious. And how gorgeous are these heirloom tomatoes?
We stopped for breakfast at Blue Max Coffee and I had a yummy vegetable scramble with homemade salsa.
We ran a couple of errands and did the rest of the grocery shopping before heading back home and watching football the rest of the day. We watched the Purdue and Notre Dame games (great wins for both!) and our afternoon pretty much looked like this:
During the second half of the ND game I stopped in Polished for a mani/pedi before meeting some friends for dinner.
We met our friends Beth and Adam for dinner at Dinosaur BBQ which recently opened in Chicago. Everything was good but my favorite thing was the mac and cheese which Kevin was mistakenly given as one of his sides. It was so creamy and good! We had a great time catching up with our friends over dinner. π
SUNDAY | It was our week to serve in the children’s classroom at church. I ended up staying home and live streaming the service since I was starting to feel my cold coming on and couldn’t be in the classroom. Kevin still went and volunteered for the both of us – bless him! After church Kevin came home to watch the Bears game and I went to a bridal shower for our friend Ashton.
The shower was a tea party theme and every little detail was perfectly done. We were each given our own vintage teacup and saucer as a favor which was so neat. The centerpieces were teapots with flowers which I loved!
We were served the most delicious Mediterranean food for lunch and had a gorgeous cake for dessert!
The shower was one of the most beautiful I have been to and every detail was so thoughtful. We can’t wait for their wedding in November!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! π
