Most of the time I bring my lunch to work, but every now and then I will eat out and I try to find healthy options when I do. Last summer I put together a list of some healthy lunch spots in the Loop. Since then there have been other healthy spots open near my office like Nando’s Peri-Peri and my new favorite place Brightwok Kitchen.
Brightwok Kitchen is a build your own bowl, veggie-focused restaurant. You start by choosing one of their homemade sauces which include Thai Basil, Creamy Cashew, Chili Coconut Curry, Teriyaki, Lemon Glaze, Tahini Ginger, and Golden Miso. Their three most popular sauces are the thai basil, creamy cashew, and coconut curry. You then pick your base of either white rice, brown rice, rice noodles, or mixed greens.
Next your choose your protein: chicken, steak, tofu, or extra vegetables. You then get your choice of four vegetables (six if you don’t get meat). Veggies include onions, carrots, broccoli, peppers, purple cabbage, bean sprouts, edamame, butternut squash, and kale.
Once you’ve chosen your ingredients, they are then stir-fried for the perfect healthy lunch.
My personal favorite bowl to order is a veggie salad with onions, carrots, broccoli, peppers, kale, and butternut squash topped with tahini ginger sauce.
Brightwok Kitchen is located at 21 E. Adams St. in Chicago’s Loop

I love Brightwok – I’m a sucker for the coconut curry and haven’t been able to branch out since I first tried it, but that ginger tahini could persuade me to try a salad next time! We should grab lunch one day! I work right near there and although I too bring my lunch most days, I’d love to meet up one day!
