Two weekends ago Kevin and I dined at Jane’s for our first Sunday brunch of the year. I had heard great things about Jane’s so I knew I wanted to try it for myself. When we first arrived and I saw how cute the outside of the restaurant was, I knew I was going to love it.
There are two sides of the restaurant and we were seated in the white room. The decor of the restaurant has a very vintage cafe feel and is soft and feminine. There are even two top tables seated right in the windows. Our view looking outside at the huge snowflakes falling was completely picturesque and beautiful!
We started our meals with our usual beverage orders – coffee for me and Bloody Mary for Kevin.
We were also given a complimentary bread basket with the most delicious homemade honey butter! I forgot to snap a picture, but the butter was amazing!
For my meal, I ordered the Spinach and Feta Omelet which was topped with a Tomato-Caper Sauce and served with a side of Turkey Sausage and Roasted Potatoes. The omelet was packed full of spinach and feta and the tomato-caper sauce added a lot of flavor. It was extremely filling and I couldn’t even finish half.
Kevin went with the Chimichurri Steak which came with two Sunny-side Up Eggs and Roasted Potatoes. He loved his meal and ate every bite! I tried the chimichurri sauce and we both agreed it was the best we’ve ever tried! It was almost more like a vinaigrette than a thick sauce.
We both fell in love with Jane’s and cannot wait to go back! It would be the perfect spot to host a bridal/baby shower or host a girl’s brunch. There were also several families with babies dining while were there so it is definitely family friendly.
Jane’s Restaurant is located at 1655 W. Cortland St. in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood
