Another weekend down, another start to the work week! I had a few cancelled plans which made for a relatively low key weekend again. We started out with a gorgeous sunny, blue sky day on Saturday only to wake up to gray skies and snow on Sunday. It’s funny how quickly the weather can change. I read the Northeast could get hit with three feet of snow today – yikes! Stay safe friends!
Here is what my weekend looked like:
FRIDAY | When I left work it was still semi-light outside which took me by total surprise. It was so nice for it not to be pitch black at 5 PM! Yay for longer days! Kevin and I tried out a new (to us) Venezuelan restaurant near our house called Aripos. We each ordered an arepa which we thought were just ok and kind of bland. The place has pretty good reviews though so maybe we’ll go back and give it another chance.
After dinner we went to see American Sniper. If you haven’t noticed, we’ve decided to make Fridays dinner and a movie night this year. We used to rarely ever go to the movies so this has been a fun new tradition. Anyways, American Sniper was a fantastic movie and Bradley Cooper definitely deserves his Oscar nomination for Best Actor. He played the role of Chris Kyle so well and the movie was a great story of an American hero. Definitely go see this one if you haven’t already.
SATURDAY | Saturday morning was the first week of a 10-week women’s Bible study I am participating in at our church. We are doing an inductive study on the book of Philippians and I am super excited about learning this method of studying the Bible. I look forward to the women’s Bible study our church offers every January and have made some great friends through these.
After our study Kevin and I went to Panera for lunch and then ran a few errands including getting him fitted for a tux for the Chicago Auto Show: First Look for Charity event in a few weeks.
Later that afternoon we stopped in Fresko for some fresh juice/smoothies and walked around outside enjoying the nice day.
We went out for some BBQ at one of our favorite places for dinner – Piggyback Tavern. We split some different smoked meats as well as collard greens and sweet potato tots.
We picked up Boyhood from Redbox and watched that at home. Another really good movie, but it’s almost 3 hours long so you definitely have to be in the mood to sit and watch a long movie.
SUNDAY | We went to church and heard a great message from our lead pastor about our church’s new mission statement: To know God and make Him known. We went to breakfast at Buzz Cafe where I had the best almond latte!
I did some grocery shopping, prepped some meals for the week, and did some laundry for the rest of the day while Kevin worked on our taxes.
That was my weekend in a nutshell! Hope you all have a great week!
