Happy Monday! It was a beautiful weekend here in Chicago! I love spring time once the weather starts to warm up because everyone emerges from winter hibernation, restaurants start opening up their patios, and all is right in the world again. We had our first patio brunch this weekend and it was glorious! Here is what else we were up to:
FRIDAY | Kevin and I went to see Guster play at The Riviera Theatre and it was great show!
We fell in love with Guster in college and have been to several of their concerts. This show was especially fun because we saw them play at The Riv almost 10 years ago on one of our first dates! It was fun to be back and see them play there again. 🙂
After the show we were starving so we went to DryHop Brewers for a very late dinner. We each ordered the burger which was delicious! It was topped with Ancho Chile-Tomato Jam, Arugula, Pickled Sweet Onions, and Raw Milk Cheddar. Yum!
SATURDAY | After being out pretty late on Friday, we slept in a little on Saturday morning. I picked up an iced coffee from Live Fresko and drank that while catching up on Scandal.
Sadly, earlier last week one of our good friend’s mom passed away after a two year battle with brain cancer. We drove down to Springfield to attend her visitation late that afternoon. The good of the story is she lived much longer than her doctors originally ever thought she would so she got to spend more time with her family and even see her two newest granddaughters both be born this past year. If you are a praying person, please pray for comfort and peace for the Young family.
We didn’t get home until late on Saturday night and were super hungry since we hadn’t eaten since that morning. We had a gift card to P.F. Chang’s so placed an order online and picked it up on our way home. Lettuce wraps for the win!
SUNDAY | Our morning started off at church. We volunteered in the children’s classroom so had fun playing with the kids. Afterwards we met our friends, Mandy and Sean, for brunch at Homeslice. Like I said earlier, we enjoyed our first patio brunch of the season which was so fantastic! We each ordered different pizzas and mine practically had an entire vegetable garden on top of it. I especially loved the roasted garlic!
Kevin’s Bloody Mary was garnished with the cutest little pizza slice on top which I loved!
After brunch Kevin and I walked over to Annette’s for some ice cream. Annette’s is one of my favorite spots to visit in the summer. Our friend Brian used to live right across the street so it always brings back memories of visiting him in college.
We spent the rest of the day running errands and doing some cleaning. Kevin watched the Master’s and worked on homework and caught up on my shows on the DVR.
Have a great week! 🙂

Sounds like a fun weekend! Annette’s does have good ice cream. If you’re ever in the Southport Corridor, go to Jeni’s. That ice cream is SO good!! Anyway.. Homeslice is yummy, that bloody mary looks amazing!! Dryhop isn’t far from where I live. Sadly the food made me sick and I’m not a big fan of their beer. Soo I probably will never go back there. :-/ Have you been to Revolution Brewery? They have fantastic food and the beers are delicious.
Have a great day!! 🙂

We LOVE Jeni’s! It is by far our favorite ice cream! Sad that Dryhop made you sick! We have been to Revolution before – awesome food!

What a fun weekend! I can’t wait to have our first ‘patio sitting and sipping’! The weather was pretty great all weekend, but between house projects and Matt helping some friends we didn’t get around to it. Have a great week!

Patio weather is the best!! It’s the best feeling ever being able to sit outside after the awful winter! Hopefully this weekend you’ll get some down time!
