Good morning and happy Monday! It was a beautiful weekend here in Chicago and we were able to spend some time outside enjoying the weather which was nice. We had several family parties this weekend and it was nice seeing everyone a few days in a row. Here is what we were up to:
FRIDAY | After work we met up with Kevin’s parents for dinner to celebrate his mom’s birthday. We ate at Parkers’ Restaurant and Bar in Downers Grove and had a great time. The service was great and the food was really good too. I ordered scallops which were perfectly cooked and some of the best I’ve tried.
SATURDAY | I woke up pretty early so went out to get us coffee/tea and breakfast. Glazed and Infused donuts and Starbucks for the win!
I actually woke up not feeling well so I spent most the morning laying around catching up on the DVR while Kevin worked on homework. Later in the afternoon we headed out to one of Kevin’s second cousin’s birthday parties. On the way we stopped at The Juice Joint for some juice/smoothies. Kevin had been sick all last week and I caught his cold so we were trying to get some extra nutrients in us.
We spent the rest of the afternoon/evening at the birthday party and had a great time visiting with family and celebrating the birthday boy. Happy 6th Birthday, Caiden!
When we got home later that evening we watched the Kentucky Derby coverage we recorded since we weren’t able to watch the race live. I always love watching the Derby and seeing all of the fancy hats and dresses. 🙂
SUNDAY | We started our morning out with our usual Sunday morning routine – church and brunch. We met our friends, Mandy and Sean, for brunch at Nightwood. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we all especially loved the Chocolate and Peanut Butter Donut we split as a starter – seriously so good!
After brunch we headed south to another family party. We celebrate another one of Kevin’s second cousin’s First Communion. It was another fun afternoon visiting with family and was fun to see everyone two days in a row.
That was our weekend in a nutshell! Hope you all had a great weekend as well!
Those donuts look delicious. They are opening up a Stan’s Donut’s in my neighborhood which will be fun. Sorry that you caught your husband’s cold, but I’m glad that you were still able to enjoy your weekend! 🙂
Stan’s Donuts are by far our favorite! They have gluten free ones which Kevin loves! And I love how cute their shop is.

I work in the building right by Parkers’ and my director took us there once to eat. That food is fantastic! I even got the cotton candy they have for dessert. so yummy!
That’s so crazy you work right by Parkers! Kevin’s parents live in Downers but we had never dined there before. It was great! I so wanted to try the cotton candy on the dessert menu but we got the key lime pie instead. Next time! 🙂
