Happy Monday, friends! I apologize for the late post today. Unfortunately, my flight kept getting delayed yesterday and I didn’t get home until around 11:30 last night. I am excited to recap my weekend for you though! I had a great trip to Minneapolis for my friend Erin’s baby shower. Erin is one of my good friends and roommates from college.
FRIDAY | My friend Mandy and I flew into Minneapolis after work and got in around 8:45. We were greeted at the airport by our always cheerful mama-to-be Erin and her husband Scott. We drove back to their house and spent the rest of the night catching up with each other while polishing off a bowl of homemade salsa and chips – the best!
SATURDAY | The baby shower took place at one of Erin’s friends from high school’s house which was about a 35 minute drive from her house so we got ready and headed out for the shower which started at 11.
For the invitations, we looked to Tiny Prints and of course found the perfect invites! I used Tiny Prints for our Christmas cards this year and loved the results so naturally wanted to use them again for the invitations. We chose Baby Board: Bloom for the invite and they turned out so cute!
We had a great food spread including chicken salad, pasta salad, fruit and veggies.
And these delicious chocolate cupcakes!
The decorations were kept simple with a few balloons, baby shower banner, and some adorable mini diaper “cakes”.
I was in charge of the game so I searched Pinterest and found one that I thought would be fun and not too cheesy. I spelled out the words “Baby Girl” on gift bags and placed a baby related item in each bag that starts with the letter on that bag. For example: B = bibs. The person with the most correct answers won a prize and Erin got to keep all of the items inside. Some of the answers were a bit challenging which I think made it fun for everyone!
I was also in charge of favors for the guests which again thanks to Pinterest was able to find a cute idea. I bought a bunch of pocket size hand sanitizers from Bath and Body Works in ‘Sweet Pea’ scent and sat them out with a sign that read: “Thanks for celebrating the mom-to-be and her little Sweet Pea”.
After the game, it was time for Erin to open all of her gifts. She got a lot of big items and tons of adorable baby girl outfits! I can’t wait to meet Baby Girl R in June and hope that Erin felt loved and spoiled by her friends and family. ๐
After the shower we headed back to Erin’s house and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. We ended up watching a documentary on Scientology which was very interesting. Later that evening we grabbed some dinner at Lago Tacos where I had some delicious grilled Mahi tacos.
We spent the rest of the night curled up on the couch watching one of my favorite movies, Something Borrowed, while eating big bowls of ice cream – a perfect girls night!
SUNDAY | We had the best lazy Sunday morning in our pajamas finishing the movie from the night before (some of us fell asleep before it was over). We eventually made it out for brunch at Patrick’s Bakery and Cafe. I ordered a delicious omelet croissant with spinach, tomatoes, and Swiss cheese.
Afterwards we went to see Pitch Perfect 2 which I was so excited about! I LOVE Pitch Perfect and had high expectations for the second one. There were parts of the movie I loved, but it definitely was not as good as the first one. Oh well!
We got manicures after the movie and I went with an OPI pink but I can’t remember the name of it.
Sadly after getting our nails done it was time for Mandy and I to be dropped off at the airport.
We had such a great weekend visiting with Erin and celebrating her and the baby! It is so much fun watching my friends become moms and I can’t wait to meet this new baby girl! ๐
Linking up with Biana.
