Two of my favorite things would definitely be brunch and dining al fresco. Put the two together and I am one happy girl. So when the first warm Sunday arrived in Chicago several weeks ago you better believe I was brunching outside. Even better than a patio brunch is a patio brunch that involves pizza.
Homeslice Pizza is a Lincoln Park staple that has one of the coolest outdoor spaces in the city.
Homeslice is the perfect atmosphere to get together with a group of friends which is just what we did. We started off with drinks which included their famous Bloody Mary which is garnished with a slice of cold pizza – yes please!
Homeslice offers a small brunch menu in addition to the large pizza menu which includes items like calzones and egg dishes. This day we were there for the pizza which is exactly what we ordered. We started by splitting an order of Bread Sticks and Baked Goat Cheese which of course was a winner. Warm breadsticks dipped in tangy goat cheese and marinara – yum!
Their pizza menu is divided into four sections: The Meat, The Bird, Meat-Free, and Build Your Own. Their pizzas come in three different sizes: 10 inch, 14 inch, and 18 inch. We each ended up ordering our own 10 inch pizzas.
I chose one from the Meat-Free section called the Hughes Delight which is topped with Broccoli, Roma Tomatoes, Green Peppers, Roasted Garlic, Kalamata Olives, Artichoke Hearts, Portabella Mushrooms (I got mine without), Feta, Mozzarella, Provolone, and Marinara. Basically an entire vegetable garden on a plate. While my pizza was good, it was a little hard to eat since it was piled so high with toppings. I would probably order a different one next time.
Kevin ordered the Lew-Wow which has Canadian Bacon, Pineapple, Mozzarella, Provolone, and Marinara. Homeslice offers gluten free crust which he ordered with his pizza. While he liked his pizza, it was not the best gluten free crust he’s tried.
Homeslice is a great place for summer dining. While it is not my favorite pizza in Chicago, it is still good and the atmosphere is fantastic. After all, any place that reminds you to ‘Be Awesome’ is pretty ok in my book.
Homeslice is located at 938 W. Webster in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood
This looks amazing! I think I’ve seen The Daily Tay post about this place too. I would go just for the baked goat cheese 🙂
Yes – she posts about Homeslice a lot! Such a great neighborhood joint!
