Hey there! Sorry for the late post today! I had a fun-filled weekend with my best girls and after they left yesterday I was too busy cuddling up under blankets at home to write this post. π This weekend my friends Jacki and Erin came to Chicago for a girls weekend with me and our other friend Mandy. The four of us were college roommates and we try to get together for a designated girls weekend every year. Jacki lives in Florida and Erin lives in Minnesota so we don’t get to see each other nearly as often as we would like. I so love that we make getting together each year a priority! Here is what we were up to.
FRIDAY | Jacki’s flight got in that afternoon and Mandy picked her up from the airport since we were all staying at her condo for the weekend. After work I met up with the two of them in Lincoln Park for dinner at Cafe Ba Ba Reeba. Before our reservation we stopped in a couple of shops on Armitage. This is one of my favorite areas in Chicago and I love strolling up and down Armitage/Halsted. For dinner we indulged in some delicious tapas and sangria including their amazing baked goat cheese!
Cheers to the start of girls weekend 2015!
SATURDAY | We woke up to a super chilly fall day. We walked over to Dollop for some coffee/tea and a quick breakfast.
After breakfast we got ready for the day and then headed to Gaslight Bar to watch the Purdue/Michigan State game. Hey there Mandy!
We snacked on appetizers all throughout the game and even though we didn’t win we played a lot better than expected and only lost by three so we considered that a win!
Erin arrived from Minnesota right as the game was ending so we had her meet us at the bar and then did a little shopping at LOFT’s 40% off sale. Unfortunately, the weather was less than desirable and was super cold and windy all day so some of our outdoor plans fell through. We went back to Mandy’s condo and hung out for a few hours. Erin just had a baby in May (you remember her baby shower) so we pretty much grilled her with questions about child birth, motherhood, etc. π It was so nice just to all be in the same room and catch up on life.
For dinner we walked to a neighborhood joint Mandy recommended called Pizza Rustica. We ordered a half margherita and half white pizza to share. I loved the crust on this pizza – super crispy!
We spent the rest of the evening back at Mandy’s watching the end of the IU/Ohio State game and way too many Jimmy Fallon clips on YouTube. #thisis30
SUNDAY | Jacki had an early afternoon flight and Erin needed to hit the road late morning so we went our for bagels at Chicago Bagel Authority before saying goodbye.
Even though our time was short we had such a great time just being with each other. I love all three of these girls so much and I feel so grateful to have such wonderful lifelong friends. π
I spent the rest of the day with Kevin. We watched the Bears game (yay for a win!) and then hung out at home the rest of the day.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well!
Thanks to Jacki for taking all of these pictures! π
