Good morning! This weekend Kevin and I drove back down to West Lafayette for one of my very favorite Christmas traditions: the Purdue Christmas Show! It was a fun but fast weekend. Here is a look at our activities.
FRIDAY | We drove down after work and once we arrived my mom, Kevin, and I met for dinner at Sylvia’s Brick Oven. Kevin and my mom both ordered pizzas and I had a side salad along with some delicious meatballs! I could have easily eaten all three, but decided to be nice and share. π
SATURDAY | My sister, Kevin, and I met my parents on campus for the Christmas Show at noon. This is one of my favorite things I look forward to each year but I have to admit that this year’s show wasn’t my favorite. I loved the Glee Club’s performance, but the rest was just ok. It’s still always fun to go!
After the Christmas Show, my dad and Kevin went to the Purdue men’s basketball game while my mom, sister, and I headed downtown Lafayette for some fun! This weekend was the Dickens of a Christmas downtown and you could see the Dickens characters perform, take carriage rides, and the tree lighting ceremony was also that evening.
We had lunch at McCord’s Candies which is an old soda fountain shop that has been around since 1912. We each ordered a chicken salad sandwich which is our favorite!
McCord’s is famous for their candy canes and we always get them in our stockings each Christmas. After we ate lunch we went upstairs and learned how they make their candy canes. We got to watch the entire process which was really neat!
We even got to shape our own candy canes to take home with us!
We popped in a few little shops before stopping for a coffee break at Fuel. My sister introduced me to a new drink: a London Fog. It’s an Earl Grey Tea Latte with vanilla. Really good!
We had a fun girls’ day downtown! π
After the basketball game the boys met us back at my parents’ house for dinner and football. We watched the SEC and Big 10 championship games before calling it a night.
SUNDAY | Kevin and I left early Sunday morning to head back to Chicago. Once we got back Kevin watched the Bears game while I went to my friend Lindsey’s baby shower. She is having a baby boy in February and we had a fun afternoon showering her with gifts!
I spent most of the shower cuddling my friend Jess‘ sweet little guy, Gavin. π This picture is funny because his big brother Zac (who is 2) threw this balloon in the air and it landed just like this so looked like Gavin was holding it. Too funny!
I hope you all had a great weekend! π
