Today is my 30th birthday! I have lots of mixed feelings about this particular birthday. I’m the last of my friends to turn 30 (besides Kevin) so you’d think I would be prepared, but it honestly kind of snuck up on me. Thirty is one of those numbers that seemed so far off in the distance, but now that it’s here I look back and think where did the time go? How is it possible that I graduated from college 8 years ago? Have I really lived in Chicago for 7 years already? Admittedly, I am kind of struggling with this one. I know age is just a number, but 30 seems like such a big adjustment. There are several things in life I thought I would have experienced by now and the fact that I haven’t I think is the hardest part of knowing I’m a year older. Of course I’m excited today is my birthday and I know I will be just fine, but there’s just something about the number 30 that seems so scary. Anyways, I don’t mean for this post to be depressing, just trying to keep it real. π In the spirit of celebrating birthdays (which I love to do), I took today off from work and have a massage and mani/pedi scheduled for myself! Kevin is taking me out to dinner tonight and I have a brunch with some of favorite girlfriends planned for next Saturday! All of my favorite things! π
Here is my Five on Friday for today:
ONE | Obviously, my birthday! I am looking forward to a day of relaxing at the spa and dinner with my favorite guy! Cheers to 30!
TWO | This past Sunday was my brother and sister-in-law’s one year wedding anniversary! I can’t believe it has already been a year since we were celebrating at their wedding! Congrats to Kyle and Faith! I love you both!
THREE | Unless you don’t follow sports, you know that the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup this week! The victory parade and rally were yesterday and downtown was a madhouse! This year the rally took place at Soldier Field so I didn’t go, but I did go to the rally in 2013 when it was located in Grant Park which is near my office. I’m not a die hard fan by any means, but it was still fun to go and celebrate!
FOUR | I met my friends Callie and Josselyn for dinner at Stella Barra this week and it was such a great midweek treat! I love catching up with friends!
FIVE | Bath and Body Works is currently having their semi-annual sale. I stocked up on hand soap ($3) and got a new 3-wick candle ($11). Plus I had a $10 off $40 coupon so I got 10 soaps and one candle for $30! Happy Birthday to me! π
Have a great weekend everyone! π

Happy Birthday!! I hope that you have a wonderful weekend celebrating. I’m 5 years older than you and I will tell you that life got better after 30. So don’t worry too much! π That pizza also looks delicious, I’ve only had drinks at that place. Those pictures of the rally are great too. Yay Hawks!! π
