Good morning! I had another fun weekend that I can’t wait to tell you about so let’s jump right in, shall we?
FRIDAY | I had the day off work and spent most of it cleaning, running a few errands, and wrapping gifts. My mom and sister arrived late that evening and while I was waiting for them I watched Christmas Vacation on ABC Family. Kevin was out at a basketball game with one of his co-workers. Once my mom and sister arrived we hung out at my house and watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas while chatting.
SATURDAY | We had a full day planned with Christmas festivities downtown and started our day with Holiday Tea at The Drake. The Palm Court at The Drake Hotel is a beautiful space and I love visiting each Christmas!
This is one of our favorite traditions we do each year and we had so much fun sipping on tea and listening to carolers sing.
After tea Kevin met up with us and we checked out the official Christmas tree of Chicago in Millennium Park. It was 60 degrees on Saturday so everyone was out and about enjoying the warm weather.
We then went to see Home Alone at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The movie was shown while the orchestra played the score live along with the film. It was really, really cool and we loved it! Another cool thing is that John Hughes’ wife and his grandchildren were at the show as well.
After the movie we stopped by the Christkindlmarket. It is their 20th anniversary and we love the cute boot mugs this year!
Afterwards we enjoyed some of our favorite Mexican food for dinner at Axcan.
We then drove around our neighborhood and looked at Christmas lights. Kevin did some research online and found a house that puts on a huge lights display each year. They had Santa and his sleigh, giant camels, the Eiffel tower, you name it they had it in lights!
We then went back home and watched Home Alone 2 before falling asleep.
SUNDAY | My dad drove up and met us for church in the morning. Afterwards we had brunch at Eyrie.
They had a brunch with Santa event so we got our picture with him. We were definitely his oldest visitors. ๐
They also had a cookie decorating station so my mom and made cookies!
After brunch we came back to our house and watched the Bears game before my parents had to leave.
We had such a fun weekend! I hope you all had a good one as well! ๐

Hi Paige, I loved your Blog today. I played bridge with your Nan and watched your Mom grow-up and now her beautiful children. It’s so nice to see all of you. The Drake is such a beautiful place–I loved seeing it again, too.
